The Real Reason the Internet is Going to Disrupt the Nation State

First Published July 1, 2010

The idea that the Internet is going to disrupt the nation-state is not a new one. One of the guys who wrote the lyrics for the Grateful Dead, I think his name is Perry Barlow, has been talking about this for decades.

There is a book called Who Controls the Internet? which tries to shoot Barlow and this idea down. The book presents some good arguments, but like everyone else who doesn't believe the Internet can replace the nation-state, the authors are NOT kooks. There is no mention of 9/11 being an inside job, of the central banking conspiracy, the New World Order, etc.

This is important, because the real reason digital networks will replace the nation-state is because the nation-state is going to collapse -- and hence SOMETHING must replace it. If the globalists have their way, the nation-state will be preserved, but a new layer of government will be added on top -- a global government, which will be offered as the "solution" to the crumbling nation-state system.

Hopefully society will realize they can accomplish everything they need to by simply creating their own Internet communities. There are two key problems: (1) lack of education, especially amongst those who are not really technologists; and (2) immaturity, lack of respect for the Truth amongst those who should know better -- intellectually and morally.

I remain an optimist, though -- in the end, I think liberty will prevail. I think it is our collective destiny.
