This is a unique collection, written in Spanish, translated into English, but with the soul of Barcelona in every word.
Mercedes Salvador, b. Barcelona, 1964, is a bilingual teacher, writer, and attorney. She is the Director of Escritorial and the virtual bridge for 21st Century renaissance of progressive feminist literature written in Spanish, English and Catalan. The tri-lingual blog, Barcelona y sus historias, is her brainchild, and is a hugely successful connection for writers, travelers, readers, artists, and interested creative people all over the world. Her first novel is titled La copia de Van Gogh.

Hello, FastPencilers-- I'm a semi-retired writer/professor (who isn't these days?); currently teaching Comparative Lit at JSM Institute for Labor Studies/CUNY. I am originally from Santiago, Chile, and I live in New York City.

My blog about writing, teaching and literature is

In December 2010 I published Speaking Like An Immigrant, and 3 other books in 2011-- Sobrevivir y otros complejos, my English translation of La muchacha de ojos tristes and the memoir collection by Catalan writer, Mercedes Salvador-- Viviendo campo a través, translated into English by myself and Ken Green.

My next projects at Fast Pencil are both novels: Residence on Earth and Lo que queda en la memoria.

Thanks for looking,
