The Brooklyn Prep class of 2014 has spent their 9th grade year
thinking about themselves as learners and individuals. Through their
self-reflective writing pieces in English class, we push the students
to peel back their complex layers and discover the individual beneath
the surface. This collection of writing is a celebration of the
discoveries they have made this year through their writing and their
artwork.
Throughout the year, student focus on two questions: Who am I? How do
my experiences shape my sense of self? This frame of questioning
pushes students to think about the effects of their pasts – how the
past shapes them today and shapes their future. This year long writing
process has allowed each student to develop a unique voice and writing
style, proving that each 9th grader is multi-faceted and insightful.
