Book one in the unique series “Come Read With Me”. Purposefully crafted to use with clients in areas such as cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s, post-stroke rehabilitation, ESL and other literacy groups.

Handy prompt questions are included at the bottom of each text page, which can be used to: prompt recall, provide story writing openers, gauge comprehension, and promote object identification.

The design of the book allows for users to approach reading and interaction using a variety of learning styles.

Karen is a Recreation Therapist who specializes in care strategies for clientele living in Long Term Care & Alzheimer’s Care facilities. She currently runs WAYFINDERS, teaches her own courses in health and wellness, & teaches part-time for Red Deer College’s continuing education department.

She started her technical writing in 2004 with her first published book “Program Planning Manual for Older Adults”. Since then she has added adult-based resources: the “Come Read With Me” series, and the “Grab & Go” series. In using these resources, no longer are recreation team members spending valuable time researching, planning and writing. Instead, time is spent where it counts...with people.
