Algonquin Park's Portage Store
The History of a Canoe Lake Institution
Every week from May's Victoria Day Weekend to Thanksgiving in early October, hundreds of visitors venture to Canoe Lake and visit the Portage Store. Very few are aware of the rich history of this venerable institution. This booklet tells that story and is the second in a series of Algonquin Park visitor guides designed to bring to life the 'human history' of the Park and share MORE ABOUT to all that are visiting - be it as day visitors out for an afternoon paddle, car campers, interior canoe trippers, or those just casually driving by along Highway 60.
