Lorie Schkud was born in WV and lived in OH and FL before settling in CA in 1960. She worked 7 years for the LA Times.
In 1971 she moved with her family to Guam. She started the first La Leche League for breastfeeding mothers, and became the first certified Lamaze Childbirth instructor, teaching both military and civilian couples, while volunteering for the Red Cross during the Vietnam War. She worked for Continental and Pan American. After 8 years she transferred to Los Angeles with Pan Am where she worked in marketing.
In 1985 she and her family moved to Oahu where she worked for a hotel developer in Waikiki. Returning to California in 1987 she worked for a Manhattan Beach commercial real estate developer as their HR Director. She and her husband retired in 2004 and moved to Palm Desert. She has 4 adult children and 7 grandchildren. She and her husband, who worked 34 years in the airline business, enjoy travel as their main source of pleasure.
